The AHA NSW has been focussed on the ongoing price increases of electricity for many years, and the significant impact that this has on their members.
The AHA NSW are pleased to announce the launch of a second Retail Electricity Power Purchase Agreement for AHA NSW members, aimed at addressing the critical need for access to more competitive pricing for members who missed out on the first PPA, as well as supporting the development of large-scale renewable energy projects.
The Flyers Creek Wind Farm will be underpinned by the AHA, TAA and AAA Member’s electricity consumption. The project is currently under construction and will be completed in Q4 2023.

Business Green Energy, supported by Northern Beaches Council is offering the opportunity for local businesses across the Northern Beaches to join 100% renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The deal will help reduce power prices, offer long-term energy price certainty and grow the use of renewable energy on the Beaches, consistent with Council’s sustainability commitments. This is believed to be the first NSW aggregated PPA tailored to local businesses supported by a Council.
To bring this program to life, Council has partnered with Business Green Energy who aggregates the aggregates the local business electricity demand and finds the best option in the market. Business Green Energy has now successfully reached a deal with Iberdrola – one of the world’s global leaders in clean energy.
By harnessing the collective purchasing strength of local businesses, the PPA program intends to substantially decrease electricity expenses for the companies that participate. With businesses facing record volatility in energy costs, a PPA can reduce pricing risk and help meet sustainability targets. For local businesses, a PPA is expected to be cheaper, more efficient, and less complex than going it alone.
This is a revolutionary initiative supported by Northern Beaches Council that could be replicated locally and elsewhere, giving businesses cheaper energy and helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with a view to a cleaner, greener world.
Northern Beaches Council has already made excellent savings since putting a 100 per cent Renewable PPA in place for its own electricity usage with Iberdrola Australia in 2021 achieving its sustainability targets well ahead of time. Local business accounts for 37 per cent of the Northern Beaches overall carbon footprint, with more than 70 per cent of those emissions coming from electricity.
For this exciting initiative to take place, we are asking local businesses to register your interest now. The greater number of participating businesses, the deeper the discount and the better the terms we can achieve.
The first 100 registered businesses that also proceed to successfully completing a counter-signed electricity contract will receive a $100 Westfield voucher. Conditions apply, including satisfactory credit checks and the provision of required supporting documentation.
Please note that this Offer is not available to businesses with consumption less than 100,000KWh per year.
With businesses facing record volatility in energy costs, now is the time to learn how a renewable PPA can reduce pricing risk and help meet sustainability targets.
At BGE we assist organisations in navigating their PPA deals. With successful ventures like the AHA deal under our belt, we're actively aiding more organisations to consolidate their position in the PPA industry.

PPA was priced at 6.9¢ per kWh – equating to a 40% saving on their annual energy bills or about $18,000 - $25,000 a year for the average publican.
The average hotel saves $250,000 over the term of the PPA
Through the PPA, participating hotels contracted to purchase the equivalent of 100% of their annual electricity load from local NSW solar farms in Parkes and Griffith.
150,000 MWh/year procured from the solar farm by AHA members leads to a saving of 123,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year
